In a great weekend for juvenile Camogie, all 5 teams competed in Championship semi-finals and finals, and all 5 teams were victorious.
First up on Saturday morning was the U13 team who travelled to Rush to play Naomh Maurs in the Div C Championship Semi-final. The girls worked as a team from the beginning passing the ball and putting it into space for their team mates. They battled hard delivering 11 scores versus 5 to win the match 2-9 to 4-1. The supporters were magnificent and really contributed to the excitement of the day and a great win. The team will now play Cuala in what should be a great final.
Later on Saturday, the U16As qualified for the ‘A’ championship final with a hard fought semi final win against Good Counsel in front of a big crowd in Marlay Park on Saturday. A strong finish to the first half saw the girls have a 3 point lead at half time. They picked up where they left off after the break eventually winning 3-5 to 7 points.
At 5pm on the AWP, in front of an enthusiastic home crowd, the U16Bs met old rivals Ballyboden in the Div 4 Shield final. Ballinteer went ahead early and led for most of the match but Ballyboden battled hard and the team had to work together to win by 2 goals . Final score 3-2 to 1-2.
On Sunday morning, the action was all on the North side. The U14 team travelled to Whitehall to contest the Div B Shield semi-final. After a very tough first half Ballinteer led by one point. Whitehall came out strong to score a goal and two points to take the lead, but Johns dug in and emerged victors 2-8 to 2-4.
In hour later in Clontarf, the U15 team contested the Div D shield final against Raheny. Despite being a goal behind at half time, the girls showed a lot of grit and dominated the second half to win the match 4-3 to 2-2.
Thanks to all the parents and supporters who cheered on the 5 matches including Conor Dolan and Tony Dillon who managed to put in an appearance at all 5 matches.
