Adult Hurling teams keep promotion hopes alive

Senior Hurling

On Tuesday night our Senior hurlers were back in league action away to Erin’s Isle. Travelling across the city midweek is never an easy task but the lads were looking to keep there unbeaten record in the league going and once the ball was thrown in it was clear that they were up for the task. Some great points from Tom Ahern, Joe Maher and Aodhan Clabby and some solid defending at the back from Brian Smith helped Johns control the opening half. As was to be expected Erin Isle didn’t lie back and accept defeat easily and got 2 goals for themselves and it could have been more if it wasn’t for a fine save by Seanie Lane. Clabby got the goal for Ballinteer and the lads Stay top of the league with 6 wins from 6.

Final Score BSJ 1.19 Erins Isle 2.08

Junior A Hurling

Sunday Morning and our Junior Hurlers were at home to Clanna Gael. Having already played in the championship Johns knew that this would be a tough test. The first half was a tight affair and a late goal just before the half time whistle for Clanna Gael saw¬† the teams go in level at the break. But the second half was to dominated by our men, an outstanding 2nd half display with a gaol from Eoin O’Callanan and points from Hudson, Power and Bradley saw us finishing strong. The goalie and full back line of Stephen Mulvany, Enda Larkin and Oisin Chambers were solid at the back and didn’t give the opposition a chance to score.

Johns sit 2nd in the league 2points behind the league leaders.

Final Score BSJ 1.15 Clanna Gael 1.07

Junior D Hurling

On Monday Night the lads were away to Commercial. Having lead 0.07 to 0.05 at half time the lads couldn’t hold on to secure victory, with Commercials having more in the tank in the final stages of the game. Fine performances on the night from Conor Murphy, Barry Judge and Sean Murphy.

Final Score BSJ 1.09 Commercials 1.15

Johns slip to 4th in the league after the loss but are still in a very strong position 2points off the top of the table.
