The session is usually a mix of games, drills and matches promoting football, hurling and camogie skills. Children are usually grouped by their year of birth for the duration of the session. Children can start in the nursery once they are in primary school.
Depending on numbers on a given day, years may be merged for the duration of the session.
During the year, events such as a mini All-Ireland may also be organised.

Time and Duration
The start time for the nursery is 10:00 sharp. Please facilitate the smooth running of the session by ensuring your child is signed in, has a bib and their name tagand are ready to start before 10:00. The session usually lasts 90 minutes but be aware the session may be cut short unexpectedly due to weather changes.
Location
Normally the nursery will be held in the Broadford playing area. From late 2009 the all weather pitch in Ballinteer Community School across the road will be available when Broadford is closed due to bad weather.
Cancellations
If the sessions are cancelled we will try to inform you by text. Please make sure you have provided your mobile details to the organisers.
Volunteers and Mentors
Sessions are run by volunteers (mainly parents of the children involved who volunteered from the sideline). Mentors begin setting up at 9:30. We are always looking for new volunteers to help the sessions run smoother. There are lots of ways to get involved - setting up equipment, organising name tags, tidying up, mentoring etc.. please join in!
Parent/Guardian Attendance
In case of early cancellation, toilet or refreshment breaks, children will be sent to their parent or guardian. You must be available for your child at the side line at all times during the sessions.
Mentor Courses
If you would like to become a mentor, we run short courses to train you up on the skills required, so even if you think you don’t have the skills right now, we can teach you!
What your child will need for ultimate enjoyment?
As your child and training advances, we recommend you consider purchasing some items for your child to enable them to get the most out of training and playing.
Hurling/ Camogie: For hurling/camogie it would be ideal for each child to have their own helmet, shin guards, hurley and sliothar. By having his/her own hurley, this will enable the child to practice while at home and this will lead to a vast improvement in their skills.
Football: For football, children should have their own football boots for outdoors, gloves for wet weather, gum shields for facial protection and shin guards.
