Senior Footballers beat Castleknock as Junior C’s win and Junior B’s draw

Our Senior Footballers took on Castleknock last Wednesday in the league and had a superb 5 point win over them on their home turf. A great start saw them 1-03 to 0-00 up within 10 minutes – the goal coming from a Castleknock defender after a Paul Farrell shot rebounded off the goalkeeper and the defenders foot before ending up in the goal.  Castleknock fought back and always kept in touch until Paul Farrell round the Castleknock goalkeeper with 10 minutes to go to extend Ballinteer’s lead to 8 points. A penalty in the last minute saw Castleknock claw it back to 5 but Ballinteer were not going to be denied. Next up in St Judes on Wednesday week.

Our Junior C’s had a hard fought win away to Thomas Davis on Thursday night on a score line 0-16 to 3-05 We gave away a soft early goal and conceded a converted penalty early in second half. The team fought back well to get the upper hand mid way through the second half however and eventually saw a 2 point victory out.

The Junior B team finished level with Scoil Ui Chonaill 0-07 a piece on Tuesday night. The lads dominated possession but their wide count proved their downfall, however with 10 games left – everything is left to play for.

The Junior A’s also played on Tuesday night a lost to St. Brendan’s by 3 points – 0-13 to 1-07. A long trip out to Grangegorman on a Tuesday night did them no favours as they ran out of steam having led for the majority of the game.
