Senior footballers draw thriller in first Division 1 game

Our Senior Footballers had a good performance against Thomas Davis in their first game in Division 1. It Ended in a draw courtesy of a last minute penalty from Aodhan Clabby. It was probably a fair result overall as the first half was very even. The second half was more a ‘game of two halves’ with Thomas Davis dominating the early part and Ballinteer St Johns the latter stages. Great fitness & determination right to the end delivered the strong finish from the lads.

Our Junior A footballers had their first game under new management and they got a strong panel out. Unfortunately having led Erins Isle for a lot of the game they were eventually beaten by 2 points. Overall a good first outing & a lot of positives to take from it.

The Junior Bs also had a good panel out but unfortunately beaten by 4 points by Liffey Gaels. Kicked a lot of wides which hopefully will be eliminated in future games but were still in it right to the end until they conceded a goal in the last minute.

A new era for the Junior Cs with a panel of 23 out made up of a couple of experienced players but mainly drawn from minor panels over the last few years. They came up against a very experienced Good Counsel team who had a lot of players who clearly played in higher leagues over the years. The lads stuck with them for the whole game but eventually lost by 2 points despite having two goal chances in the dying minutes both of which were just wide.
