Senior Footballers draw with Plunketts as Junior Bs and Junior Cs record wins

Our Senior Footballers took on St. Oliver Plunketts on Wednesday evening in Marlay Park in what was the first meeting between the sides since Ballinteer’s famous victory in the Championship 6 years ago. Ballinteer started brightly playing into the wind and managed to get 3 early points but were pegged back quickly when Plunketts broke up the pitch to score an early goal to level things. Ballinteer had the perfect answer though when Shane McCann went up for a high ball with the Plunketts keeper to punch into the net. Aodhan Clabby struck some very nice frees but another Plunketts goal and a free nice scores meant Ballinteer went in leading by a point at the break. Clabby kept striking the frees over the bar and added a few from play as well in the second half in what was a man of the match performance. Ballinteer led by three again when Plunketts broke down the middle to score their third goal of the game, followed by a point to go into the lead for the first time in the game. Fearghal Duffy however levelled things up and Ballinteer had a few chances to win it that went agonisingly wide.

The fought hard throughout the second half but 2 goals for Towers eventually got them over the line as the won by 4 points.

Our AFL 7 team had a comprehensive win over Parnells last Tuesday night on a scoreline of 3-1 to 11points. Our next game on the Sunday 20th May will be against table toppers Geraldine Morans.
