U15 footballers progress in Championship and U14s record second win

Under 14s

Our Under 14s had an excellent team performance and win against Ballyboden last weekend. BSJ 4-17 Boden 4-5. The lads settled into an early lead with scores from players from a number of sources. This our 2nd win in Division 1 so is a good milestone to have achieved.

Under 15s

The U15 boys advanced to the next round of the U15 A football championship with a win over Clontarf at the weekend. After a thrilling game, played at championship intensity, it appeared that BSJ had done enough in normal time only for Clontarf to salvage a dramatic draw at the death to force Extra Time. Despite the setback of conceding the late equaliser the BSJ boys showed tremendous resolve and spirit to play some fantastic football in the extra period and book their place in the next round. All of the panel contributed over 80 minutes of a high quality team performance to secure a deserved victory and a place in the Quarter Final. Next up is a fixture versus Erin’s Isle in 2 weeks’ time for a place in the County Semi Final.

Under 16s

BSJ 2-9 BBSE 3-8 – After a fantastic start to the season the Under 16s suffered there first loss in a pulsating game against near rivals Ballyboden. BSJ started well with points from Conor Browne, Liam Fenton & Jack Lundy but a break away goal brought Boden right into it. BSJ responded with a goal from Conor Browne to re-establish a 4 point lead. Boden responded with a second goal and led by one point at halftime. BSJ fell further behind in the second half and trailed by 7 points. With 15 minutes remaining Boden had a played dismissed and BSJ responded with 1-4 unanswered – including a goal from sub Adam O’Brien to draw level. Both sides had chances to win it – BSJ missing two frees before Boden scored 2 injury time points to take it at the death.
