Congratulations to Robbie Gaughan and Dónal Gormley who played their part in securing a second successive All Ireland MFC Final place for Dublin with a fine win over Kerry in Croke Park on Sunday. We wish them well in the final against Meath and hope they will go all the way this year.
Other Ballinteer men in County action at the weekend were Robert Aherne, Enda Larkin and Iarlaith Mac Gabhann who travelled to Tipperary with Dublin for the All Ireland Under 16 Hurling Championships. Enda and Iarlaith, pictured, had the better day out in Silvermines with fine wins over Galway, Waterford and Limerick to reach the All Ireland Under 16 B Hurling Final against Cork in Toomevara. Unfortunately for Dublin the Rebels had the fresher legs and secured their second successive title after a long days Hurling.
Meanwhile over in Kilcolman Robert helped the Dublin A team to a fine win over Laois however in a bizarre outcome to their second match Dublin saw their lead overhauled during a long period of injury-time which saw Clare through to the semi-finals and a much fancied Dublin side relegated to the shield. Our lads can take great pride in how they represented their Counties, Clubs and families in a wonderful tournament.
Sincere thanks to the people of North Tipperary for their hospitality. Thanks also to Seán Lane and his Dublin management team who have built a formidable Under 16 panel, bringing 2 highly competitive Dublin Hurling teams to these Championships and developing the minor county hurlers of the future.
