BSJ beat Faughs in Championship

A great win last Friday night in O’Toole Park as Ballinteer battled their way to victory against 31 time county champions Faughs, in a do or die battle.

Both teams needed a win to be in with any chance of progressing to the next stages of the senior hurling championship.

Faughs opened the scoring with 2 points from frees. Faughs then got a goal to go 1.04 to 0.03 ahead. But Ballinteer battled back and got a goal straight away and then tagged on 2 more points. Faughs got another goal before half time to go into the break 2.04 to 1.05 ahead.

The changes at half time of Ferghal Duffy and Fionan Clabby coming on and they set the pace in the second half. Duffy tagged on two points in the second half while F. Clabby battled hard around the middle picking up loose ball.

Aodhan Clabby showed his class in the final moments of the game scoring 2 points from frees to give Ballinteer a 1.15 to 2.09 victory.

Ballinteers next outing in the championship is against Oliver Plunketts E.R in Parnell Park (date to be confirmed). Ballinteer need a win to be in with a chance of reaching the quarter final stages.
