There was an interesting weekend of results for our adult football teams with 2 wins, a draw and 1 lose. On Saturday night the Senior team played out a draw against St. Marks in McGee Park 2-07 to 1-10. There were flashes of brilliance from Feargal Duffy and Peter O’Curry but wasn’t enough to get the 2 points. In the first half Ballinteer should of been well out of sight but 8 wides and 3 balls dropping short didn’t help the situation. Feargal Duffy scored an wonderful individual goal, though, which had Ballinteer ahead at half time. However, two goals for Marks in the second half were the difference and constantly kept them in touch. There were a few late chances that Ballinteer had to win the game but the chances weren’t taken and the lads had to settle for a point.
On Friday night the Junior A’s and B’s played side by side in Marley Park. The A team played a weak St. Annes team and ran out comfortable winners 1-14 to to 6 points. 1-5 from Sean O’Reilly, 4 points from Colm O’Donnell, 3 from Jack Gilligan and points from Colm Duffy and Paddy Corcoran helped the lads on there way to a comfortable win. There were good performances in defence from Cormac O’Broin and in goal by Martin Sorohan who saved a penalty and made numorous other saves. The B team also had a good win 2-12 to 1-05 against St. Peregrines. It was a great performance all round from the lads especially John Gillespie, Aidan Kirrane and Ronan Clabby who scored 1-02 in his last game for the club for 18 months before he goes to Austrailia.
The Junior C team also played on Sunday against Geraldine Moran’s in Loretto Park but unfortunately were beaten 3-10 to 1-07.
