Good Weekend for Juniors as Seniors lose to Skerries

The Senior Football team were beaten on Saturday Evening by Skerries Harps in Skerries by 2-10 to 1-08. It looked like it was going to be a good day for Ballinteer when they got off to the perfect start. Shane McCann’s shot was deflected over the line by Frankie Ward and Ballinteer were a goal up straight away. They then tagged on 2 points and they looked to be in control of the game. However Skerries replied very quickly with two goals of their own and nevered looked back from there. Skerries led by 5 points at half time. A spirited St Johns side got it back to two points but in looking for those two points, many men pushed forward allowing Skerries to tap over three late points to win the game by five.

 

The Junior A’s and the Juniors B’s both played side by side in a wind swept and wet Marley Park on Sunday morning. Both teams had impressive wins over St. Marys and St. Brigids respectively. The Junior A’s scored 1-23 from play against St. Marys with Sean Reilly scoring an impressive 1-08. There were also solid performances also by Alan Dolan and Sean O’Connor in the Full Back Line. The B’s won 10 points to 5 against Brigids with the backs impressing espescially Conor O’Sullivan. Carl Moran played a commanding role in midfiled whil Shane Curran also impressed with 3 points in the forwards.

 

The Junior C’s took on table toppers St Kevins Cillians in Loretto Park on Sunday afternoon. After a good start and keeping in touch with Kevins Cillians in the first half, the wind helped Kevins Cillians to a comfortable victory.
