Ballinteer St Johns member Gráinne Larkin is one of 5 Leaving Cert students from Coláiste Íosagáin and Coláiste Eoin who are travelling to Kasama in Zambia this Summer to work in schools run by Christian Brother Dominique Sykes.
Coláiste Íosagáin has built a strong connection with Br. Dominique over the last few years as groups of pupils and teachers have undertaken voluntary work in Kasama and brought much needed funds to this poor region. This group wants to continue that connection after they leave school and will travel to Zambia after their exams in July.
They are paying their own way but aim to raise €5,000 to further Br Dominique’s work in Kasama. To that end they have organised a fund raising concert which will take place on Saturday 10th March 2012 at 7.30 PM in Froebel College, Sion Hill, Blackrock.
This live performance will be a treat for music lovers and will feature classical, choral and traditional music from Vivace Quartet, LPSM Childrens Choir, The Bucks of Duibhlinn, Andrew and David de Barra, Empire Saints, as well as Gráinne herself who sang for us in St Johns on the eves of the Football and Hurling Finals, Summer BBQ and won Dublin and Leinster Scór na nÓg singing titles in 2011.
Tickets cost €10 for adults and €5 for children and are available from Coláiste Íosagáin school office or from any of the group:-
