On Sunday last our intermediate hurlers reached the semi final of the championship with a hard fought quarter final victory over Naomh Fionnbarra in Cabra. While the windy conditions made it difficult for both sides there was some excellent hurling on view. Corner forward Colm Gilligan was the star man for St John’s scoring a personal total of 2-6, while Oisin Power made light of the tricky breeze with a number of excellent scores from placed balls.
The semi final against Liffey Gaels is scheduled for Sunday 25 September at 12.00 in O’Toole Park and all support is welcome.
The draw for the first round of the Senior Hurling Championship was made on Monday last and we will open our maiden campaign at this level with a tie against fellow promoted side Na Fianna. Following a very good league campaign to date in AHL 1 the lads will be hoping to overcome this hurdle to set up a quarter final meeting with county champions Ballyboden St Endas.
The Na Fianna game will throw in at 4.00 on Sunday 25 September in Parnell Park and once again all support is welcome.
