Ballinteer St. Johns intermediate hurlers narrowly lost their opening AHL 4 game against Craobh Chiarain by 1 point on Sunday morning last, on a final score of 1-8 to 1-7 in favour of the Northside men.
The BSJ lads put in a very spirited performance despite losing the services of several team regulars leading up to the match.
Playing into a very stiff breeze throughout the second half, the team were pushing for an equaliser right up to the final whistle, but a very determined and experienced Craobh side held on to prevail by the narrowest of margins.
The performance from the team is very encouraging for all concerned, with several of the younger players showing good skills and a lot of determination & heart as they progress through the ranks while gaining valuable experience along the way.
Next game for the club intermediate hurlers is away to Fingallians on March 25th..
