Junior B and Junior C Football teams start championship with big wins away

Junior B

Good win away from home in the opening round of the championship. the team played very well but made hard work of it at the end, our fitness told though throughout the game especially in the 2nd half where a 10/15 minute spell got us over the line.

Great team performance with everyone playing their part, special mentions to Shane Duffy, Gavin Fahy, Kevin Davies in defence, Kevin Power at midfield and John Hickey & Oran McIvor up front.

Final Score: St Margarets 0:10 BSJ 1:10

Junior C

The Junior C Football team had a successful opening to the Junior 5 Championship with a 3.11 to 2.7 win over Fingal Ravens. Although Ballinteer St Johns were dominant in the early possession,  Ravens went into an early lead of 4 points to 1 as Johns struggled to get the early scores. However, when Richard O’Rahilly collected a long ball played in from centrefield he was pulled down in the square. Seán Murphy converted the penalty and Johns led from there to the end.

There were very strong performances from every player and the subs, when introduced, contributed 1.3 from play, showing that this squad has strength in depth. The players who came in this year from last year’s Minor B squad are developing well and the existing players from previous years are all continuing to improve.

Next up is on the 28th April at home to Naomh Mearnóg in the second championship game.
