DIVISION 3 DUBLIN FEILE WINNERS

Division 3 Ballinteer St Johns 4 – 4 Kilmacud Crokes 0 – 1

Ballinteer St Johns turned on a superb display to see off the brave challenge of Kilmacud Crokes. In Aoife Kelly, the Marlay Park outfit have a human dynamo. She was simply everywhere and had a hand in several of the John’s scores.

First off the mark in the 5th minute was Eleanor Aherne who also had a fine game. Five minutes later, Aoife Kelly set up Caoimhe Smith for Ballinteer’s first goal.

Ballinteer’s defence was outstanding so much the ‘keeper Niamh Kilkenny had a troublefree day much of it thanks to the great play of half back Sophie Quinn. Captain Aisling Brown’s impressive striking of frees relieved many dangerous moments. Eimear Stakelum (daughter of Dublin hurling selector Richie) battled hard for Crokes at midfield.

But Ballinteer struck a decisive blow just before half time when another Aoife Kelly delivery found its way to Grace O’Shea who goaled.

The door was firmly closed 5 minutes into the second half when Grace O’Shea grabbed her second goal. Sarah Galvin in the Crokes’ goal had earlier brought off a great save.

Crokes battled to the finish but Ballinteer had the scoring power and the possession and even managed to knock up 11 wides. After points by Eleanor Aherne and Aisling Browne, the fourth goal came from the excellent Amber Traynor.
