Minor hurlers fall to narrow defeat in championship quarter final

The minor hurlers championship campaign came to an end yesterday. They were beaten by Plunketts in the quarter final. In spite of the pitch being in very poor condition due to water logging, the lads led for most of the match. They were ahead by 1 point at half time and led for the first half of the second half. However, Plunketts pulled ahead in the last quarter and won by 3 points.

Getting narrowly beaten in the quarter final of the championship in a very tough group was more than we had a right to expect at the start of the season. We had very low numbers at minor age this year so this team was very much a developmental team made up of our small number of minor players and our U16 squad. Out of the 14 games that the lads played across the League and Championship, they won 8, lost 4 and drew 2. This performance with so many of the team still at U16 age bodes very well for BSJ minor hurling next year and they have a great base to push on from.

The Management team (Shane, Dermot, Hugh, Danny and Donal) would like to thank all the players and their guardians for all their hard work and support through the year.
