What a match! Group 3 of Minor Hurling Championship. A decider as to who would have the honours of leading the group going into the Quarter finals. Clontarf started well and their free taker was on song sending over 4 points in the first half and was unlucky not to have scored from a sideline. BSJ though had their Daire Casserly who scored 4 from frees as well in the first half, and the rest of the team chipped in with 4 more from play. Clontarf powered on and a goal helped them lead at half time by 6 points, 1-11 to 0-8. …. but not before Matthew Tully made an excellent save to keep them to 6.
The second half showed a dogged fightback by BSJ. They slowly pinned back Clontarf and with the help of two well worked opportunistic goals by Mark Dalton and Oisin Brennan and some more excellent saves by Matthew Tully again meant that when the whistle went for full-time both teams shared the spoils.
By virtue of Clontarf scoring 1 extra point over the three matches in the Group means they have the honour of leading this intriguing group into the final stages of this championship. BSJ though look forward to the next match in two weeks against Oliver Plunketts and if they can show the same dogged fight from the start should help them punch through to the next round.
