Senior’s beaten by St. Peregrines

A spirited performance by our Senior footballers went unrewarded last night as the they were beaten by four points in Marley Park. The lads had an excellent start with two early points from Paul O’Donnell – one off the left and one off the right. 2 points from Frankie Ward free kicks and 2 from Johnny McNally gave Ballinteer a 4 point lead at half time 6 points to 2. Half way through the first half however, Ballinteer were reduced to 14 men after Mark Kavanagh received two harsh yellows from the referee. They were always going to be up against it in the second half and when St. Peregrines scored a goal to go 3 points clear they were never to be caught and eventually extended there lead to 4 points before the end of the game. The match ended 1-09 to 0-08.

The Junior B team also played St. Joseph OCB on Tuesday night and really dug deep to get a 2-10 to 3-11 victory. The lads were trailing 2-01 to 0-00 10 minutes in and fought back heroically to win by four points helped by two goals from David Quinn.
