Senior Camogie Championship 1st Round

Tuesday evening saw both our Senior 2 and Senior 7 camogie teams in action in the first round of this years championship. Both teams are aiming to go one better this year having reached the semi final and final stages respectively in the competitions last year.

A superb all round team performance was the key to a winning start for the Senior 2 girls. The forwards laid down a marker early with some important scores to settle the team. At the half time break the scores read 2-06 to 0-04 in favour of Ballinteer St Johns.
After the break the girls never let up and full credit must be given to the defence who kept Raheny scoreless in the second half. With some superb tackling and support play they drove on and finished the game with an impressive score line of 2-12 to 0-4. Well done to the management and players.

The Senior 7 girls began their campaign with a difficult trip away to Erin’s Isle. The girls started well and showed great fight to break into an early lead despite tough opposition and the added hurdle of being a player down. Unfortunately the luck was not on their side with Erins Isle getting a last minute goal with the final puck of the ball to win by the narrowest of margins. Final score 2-4 to 1.6

Next up has our Senior 2’s away to St Judes (Date and time TBC) and our Senior 7’s at home to St Mark’s Sun 20th Sept at 11 am. All support welcome!
