The senior camogie team faced st. Judes in their last group game in Tymon park on Sunday morning last.
The hosts won the early exchanges and within the first 5 mins Judes were 2 points up. Johns quickly settled in to the game and by the 10 minute mark had levelled the game. Mid way though the first half Grace O’Shea found herself one-on-one with the keeper and made no mistake when converting her chance. For the first time in the game Johns were ahead. However the lead didn’t last long when Judes found the net just a minute later. With that goal Judes grew in confidence and tagged on 3 unanswered points to lead at half time by 1-06 to 1-03. The hosts stretched their lead to 6 points when Judes registered a second goal early in the second half. This spurred the Johns girls on who improved their performance and began to dominate all over the pitch. The backs began to batten down the hatches and solid displays from Sophie Quinn and Amy Burke (who played u16 championship the day before) helped to drive on the team. The forwards began to show off their skill in front of goal and took some nicely worked scores to close the gap on their opponents. Johns out scored their opponents by 4 points to no score in the final quarter however The game ended with the score line reading 2-08 to 1-09 in favour of Judes. Both teams qualified for the semi finals with Johns topping the table on points difference.
Skerries Harps await the Johns girls this Sunday at 11am in Marlay Park in the championship semi final. All support welcome!
