Senior Footballers beat Brigids to set up an all or nothing tie with Vincents

Our Senior footballers enjoyed a great victory over St. Brigids last night in O’Toole Pk to set up a ‘winner qualifies’ match against St. Vincents after the Summer break.

Brigids started brightly and took a 0-3 to 0-1 lead early on but Aodhan Clabby fired over 3 frees to push BSJ ahead while Eoghan Fitzpatrick and Aaron Bradshaw also added points to give Johns a 0-6 to 0-3 lead. Another free and another from play from Bradshaw had the lads leading 0-8 to 0-6 at half time.

A Bradshaw goal early in the 2nd half and points from Clabby and Donnacha Carey put BSJ in the driving seat – leading by 6 points. Brigids got a a goal back but two more Clabby frees (making it 7 from 7) as well as points from Dan O’Leary and another from Eoghan Fitzpatrick ensured the victory, although a late goal from Brigids reduced the win to 2 points – 1-16 to 2-11.
