Our Senior footballers took on St. Peregrines in Blakestown on Saturday evening in the league and recorded a good five point victory against the northsiders.
Playing with the wind in the first half Ballinteer were made to work hard for scores by the Peregrines defence. The teams were trading scores until Glenn Whelan latched on a ball and buried it in the back of the net to put Ballinteer 1-04 to 0-03 up. Two scores for Peregrines before half-time and one from Ballinteer had it a three point game at half-time.
Up the hill and into the wind for the second half Ballinteer had a lot of work to do and Peregrines got off to a good start and had it down to two points early on. However a point from Breandan and a penalty from Paul Cronin extended Ballinteers lead again to five points. Points from Luke Naughton, Paul Mullan, Paul Cronin and 1-01 from McCann in the last fiftheen minutes ensured a five point victory for Johns with a scoreline of 3-10 to 0-14.
The Junior Bs took on Robert Emmetts away from home on Sunday morning and had a good 3-09 to 0-06 win. Goals from Conor Lawlor, Graham Dent and Sean Dunne helped them along their way and they now sit one point of the playoff places with a game in hand.
