Senior Footballers beat St Pats in close encounter

The Senior footballers beats St Pats last night in an exciting encounter in Marley Park. They took the lead from the word go and led the whole way through the first half thanks to a number of free’s from Padhraic O’Connor’s boot. They led by 4 points at half time.

In the second half it looked like Ballinteer were going to drive on with the first score of the half going to BSJ but St Pats had different ideas and entered into a purple patch putting 6 over in a row to hit the front by 2 points. Ballinteer battled back though and with Fearghal Duffy terrorising his man Ballinteer always had a chance of getting back into it. Persistant fouling eventually got Duffy’s man a second yellow card and BSJ played the extra man to perfection, tagging on two scores to get the sides back on level terms. With 3 minutes to go and a patient build up the ball came to Shane McCann who calmly slotted the ball over the bar with his left foot to give Ballinteer the lead again. Jack Gilligan fisted an insurance point soon after, with BSJ running out 2 point winners.
