Senior & Junior A Footballers both go 2 from 2 in the league

Senior Football

The senior footballers made it two wins from two with a hard won and well deserved victory over Skerries Harps on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-10. In a low scoring first half Aaron Bradshaw’s goal from a well worked move was the highlight leaving the score at 1-4 to 1-3 to us at halftime. Some well taken points pushed BSJ into a three point lead midway through the second half but Skerries fought back to take a one point lead with minutes left. However Aodhan Clabby kicked a great 45 to level the game and in the last action of the game Fearghal Duffy popped up at the end of a number of passes to fist the winning score over the bar. Great performance over the 60 minutes from Donal Gormley and nice scores from Eoghan Fitzpatrick in addition to the return of Glen Whelan were other highlights of the game.

Junior A Football

Our AFL 5 team went Northside to play Croabh Ciarian . Unlike in our previous game we started off in blistering fashion going 2-1 to no score up in the first 10 mins. The goals were Shane Mc Canns specials, one of which followed a sublime 40 yards diagonal foot pass from Joe Sweeney. However sloppy play in deteriorating conditions which were not inductive to our style of football allowed Croabh back into the game and we went in only 3 points up at half time. Croabh playing with the benefit of an increasing wind brought the deficit back to 1 pt. However a goal from Sean Gildea following a great movement up the field put us up by 5 points. Croabh almost immediately got it back to 2 following a controversial penalty and then got it back to 1. After 8 mins of injury time we held on for a well merited victory. All players deserve great credit for their efforts in very difficult conditions . There were great performances from Collie Egan, Joe Sweeney, Shane McCann and Ciaran McCabe

Junior B Football

Our AFL7 team were beaten 1-6 to 7 points on Sunday.
We played well in heavy conditions against a well organised St. Oliver Plunkett’s team.
There wasn’t much between the teams and only an early 2nd half goal conceded was the difference.
A great work ethic & spirit was shown again in a game of limited chances.
Everyone played their part, with Shane Duffy, Denis McCambridge, Kevin Davies, Eoin Coffey, John Hickey & Kevin Power all leading by example.
