Our Senior Footballers eased the threat of relegation last night after a hard fought victory against a St. Pats team who never gave up. The match started off as a cagey affair with both teams matching each other point for point thanks to a couple of Johnny McNally frees. Then 10 minutes in, Fearghal Duffy showed why he is a Dublin Minor and rounded his man before cooly slotting home past the keeper to bring the game to life. St Pats reacted well however and scrapped back a few points but an excellently worked goal, eventually rolled home by Nicky Deveraux put Ballinteer 4 points up going in at half-time.
Ballinteer had the perfect start to the second half when the ball was worked into the scoring zone straight from the throw in and Johnny McNally calmly slotted the ball over the bar. Ballinteer went on from there and never looked back. Points from Paraic O’Connor, Fearghal Duffy and a few more frees from Johnny Mc helped them to an eventual comfortable 7 points victory 2-11 to 0-10. That victory puts Ballinteer onto 10 points and two points clear of the relegation zone with two games to go.
