On Tuesday night our Senior Hurlers traveled over to Silver Park to face Kilmacud Crokes.
The lads had won their opening 2 games in the league before the break for championship matches and were looking to get back to winning ways after a defeat to Lucan in the second of those championship games.
Ballinteer had a youthful looking team out with the average age of our half-back and midfield lines just 20years of age, but that didn’t show in their performance as Ballinteer controlled possession although struggling to convert chances in the opening exchanges.
A well worked goal converted by Joe Maher just before the break put Ballinteer ahead 1.08 to 0.05 at the break.
The second half was a test of character as Crokes upped their game but our men stayed composed and continued to chip away at the score board. Seanie Lane was called into action on a few occasions but stood his ground to deny the Crokes forwards. A goal a piece from Danny McCarthy and Barry Mannion secured the win for St Johns to keep us top of the league.
Full time score: Ballinteer St Johns 3.13 Kilmacud Crokes 1.09
Next Game: Wednesday 16th May, 7.15pm Marley Park
