Our Senior Football Team lost in the 3rd round of the Senior Dublin Football Championship last night in a thrilling match against St. Marys. The game took place in Thomas Davis’ home ground at 7:30. Marys started off well and kicked 3 scores without reply. St Johns then started to come into the game and started to kick a few scores of there own through Fearghal Duffy and Mark Kavanagh. But disaster struck as the St Marys corner forward snuck in behind the Ballinteer defence and buried the ball low into the bottom corner of the net. Marys went in with a five point lead at half time 1-06 to 0-04. A rejuvinated Ballinteer team came out for the second half and really got St Marys on the back foot. The corner forwards of Shane McCann and Fearghal Duffy were terrorising the full back line. Scores in the second half from Shane McCann, Fearghal Duffy, Colm O’Donnell and Paraic O’Connor got St. Johns up to a total of 11 points but St. Marys’ goal proved decisive as they scored 1-11. Hard Luck to all the players and the management team of Alan Byrne, Gerry O’Donnell, Martin Walsh and Brendan Nangle.
