Seniors Run Raheny close as they and Junior A’s Lose

Last weekend threw up some interesting fixtures for our adult football teams and the excitment of the games didn’t fail to deliver.

On Saturday evening, our Senior team took on Raheny in St. Annes Park and put up a serious fight. They hit the ground running and were trading points with Raheny and a first half goal by Shane McCann but Ballinteer in the driving seat. Ciaran Whelan and co fought back however and led again until Daragh Hopkins came in off the bench to score a goal that looked like it could win the match for Ballinteer. However Raheny came down and took the iniative, scoring two late points to win the match 0-16 to 2-09.

Our Junior A team didn’t have much more luck on Sunday morning as they took on Fingal Ravens in Rolestown. They were beaten 1-08 to 0-06 in a very scrappy match that Fingal Ravens took by the scruff on the neck with a goal 15 minutes into the second half. Before this it was very even with Ballinteer leading 2 points to 1 at half time.

Our Junior B team were involved in a very lively draw in Pairc De Burca against Kilmacud with the match eventually finishing a draw 3-12 to 1-18 in what was an extremely exciting game.

The Junior C’s took on St James Gael in the Iveagh Grounds on Sunday at 3pm and had a good win to take them to 5 points after 4 games. They beat Gaels 1-10 to 2-11 and are progessively moving higher and higher in their league.
