Seniors snatch late point as Junior A’s hammer Isles

There was action in the Adult Football Leagues yesterday with our Seniors, Junior A and Junior C teams all in action.

The Seniors took on St Peregrines in Blakestown, with the wind dominating the play. It was a scrappy game and Ballinteer, aided by the wind in the first half, took at 4 point lead (5 points to 1) with a few minutes to go in the first half. Pergrines then scored a scrappy goal which brought it back to a one point gap with Ballinteer facing into a massive breeze in the second half. A gutsy and determinded performace kept Ballinteer in the game though and a penalty converted by Peter O’Curry put them back in the lead by 2 points after Peregrines hit the first two scores of the second half. However, a big long ball deceived both attack and defence and fell nicely for a Peregrines forward who converted low and put them back in the lead, which was quickly followed by a free and a 2 point lead. Ballinteer battled on however and with 2 minutes remaining closed the gap to one point. Then with the very last kick of the game, Seamus McCaffery got on the end of a long ball in to slot it over the bar to make sure Ballinteer got a share of the spoils.

Our Junior A’s had a magnificent win on the All Weather pitch against Erins Isle on Sunday morning also. Fine performances from Eoin Walsh and Aidan Field in the back line (the latter scoring 1-01) along with a fine performance in midfield by John Keating helped blow Isles away as they went on to win 0-07 to 1-13.

Our Junior C’s came up against a very good Good Council team on Sunday evening and couldn’t do anything to stop their prolific full forward dominate the game as Council ran out eventual winners.
