Our Senior footballers took on Lucan Sarsfields on Sunday morning in the league and made it two wins out of two so far in Division 2.
Lucan came flying out of the blocks and went 0-05 to 0-1 early on. Ballinteer grew into the game however and Breandan Colleran, Shane McCann and Fearghal Duffy started popping scores over the bar before McCann got a 3-pointer to put Ballinteer ahead 1-05 to 0-5. Lucan struck back quickly though and got a goal of their own to level things up once more. However two more points and another Shane McCann goal, right on the stroke of half-time, had Ballinteer leading 2-07 to 1-05 at the break.
Again, Lucan started the better after the break and clawed back the five point deficit in no time and also scoring a goal putting them two up; 2-09 to 2-07. Ballinteer never gave up though and battled on out scoring Lucan seven points to two in the final quarter to win the game 2-14 to 2-11.
The Junior As took on Crumlin in Marley at 12pm and racked up a big score against them winning 4-11 to 0-06. Shane McGreevy was a hat-trick hero with three well taken goals.
Our Junior Bs lost 0-11 to 1-4 to Round Towers in Clondalkin, which was also at 12pm. Playing into a strong wind the scores were level at half time 0-4 to 1-1 with a great team goal finished off by Darragh Hopkins and a point from Brian Byrne. John Hickey kept Ballinteers scoreboard ticking over in the second half but it wasn’t enough as Round Towers finished out four point winners. Good performances though from Eoin Walsh and Conor Conway.
