The senior hurlers got their division 1 campaign off to a perfect start with a hard earned victory away to St. Pats of Palmerstown on Sunday last.
In what is a very difficult venue to get results, the lads produced a very professional performance to see off the challenge of Pats. Playing with the wind in the 1st half, the inside forward line of Joe Maher, Aodhán Clabby and Kevin Barry were seeing loads of ball and duly responded with some great scores. Our half forward line of Gavin Byrne, David Harney and James Gilligan were competitive under the high ball and fought manfully over all breaking ball which led to a constant supply of ball into the full forward line. In front of them our midfield of Kevin Davis and veteran Feargal Chambers ran themselves into the ground with Chambers picking off a few nice scores. At half time we led by 6 points but Pats would play with a strong wind for the 2nd half.
As expected Pats threw everything forward in an attempt to rescue the game but our backs defended everything that came their way. Fionan Clabby, Keith Nolan & Donal Gormley were very busy for the half but were brilliant with everything they did. One of the highlights of the half was a superb catch from a puck out from the ever reliable Nolan. Behind them, the full back line of Alex Hogan, John O Donovan & Jack Gilligan made sure we kept a clean sheet and Sean Lane jun finished the game with a phenomenal save as Pats looked for a goal that would have tied the game. The final score was St. Pats 0-12 BSJ 0-15.
All in all a good result with better performances to follow as the lads build towards the 1st round of championship. Next game is against Lucan in Marley Park on March 29th and all support would be greatly appreciated.

Our newly promoted Junior B hurlers got their season off to a winning start against Na Gaeil Oga in St.Catherines Park Lucan last Sunday.
Eoin Smith and Brian Mannion made their adult debuts after starring in last years minor team, both went on to have solid games.
The game was tight all the way through, early goal scored by Cian Morrissey after some excellent work by Shane O`Connor and Anton Redmond was pegged back by Na Gaeil Oga in a goal line scramble, just before half time. Leaving a two point difference in favour of BSJ at half time.
Second half BSJ created a lot of scoring chances, this was reflected in that Na Gaeil Oga had over twice as many puck outs as BSJ.
But the excellent preseason training began to show in the second half, with Oisin MacCinneide and Cormac Fenton showing really well in the second half. With Captain Barry Judge leading in action and with words of encouragement for all his team mates. Defence that was well marshalled by Ruairi Donnelly at full back and Eoin Walsh in the half backs.
The introduction of Brian Dollard and Tommy Brady helped ensure a 3 point victory over Na Gaeil Oga, the final score 2-8 to 1-8.
Great start to the year and new challenges for the new Junior B management team of Ciaran Clabby, Graham Dent, Jim Devereux and Conor Dolan
Our next match is on the 29th of March in Marlay V Clontarf. All support is welcome.
