Ballinteer had a great start to their league campaigns on Sunday with 3 out of 4 adult teams winning their first games and the fourth securing a draw.

Our Senior footballers went out to Coolock to take on Division 2 newcomers Parnells on Sunday morning and a tremendous performance saw them come away with the spoils. A solid first half display and some wonderful scores from Fearghal Duffy, Robbie Gaughan and Cillian Fitzgerald helped Ballinteer to 0-09 to 0-04 lead at half time after dominating possesion. In the second half three goals pushed Ballinteer into a big lead and they were uncatchable from there. Two Breandan Colleran goals preceded by a Shane McCann strike leaving the final score 3-13 to 1-11.

Our Junior A footballers took on Crumlin also on Sunday in Marley Park. After reaching the playoffs last year, getting the year off to a good start was essential and they delivered with a tremendous 2-17 to 0-06 victory. David Quinn was the joint top scorer on the day notching up an impressive 6 points (2f) while Shane McGreevy got 2 goals. Paul Farrel, Rob Bracken, Rob Sheridan, Gary Mitchell, Niall Dunphy and the ever reliable Frankie Ward also were on the score sheet. Defensively Brian McCaffrey and Ciaran McCabe performed well in leading the defence to conceding just 6 points.

Our Junior Bs took on Round Towers in Clondalkin on in a very exciting game that saw the two teams share the spoils. A goal seperated the teams at half time with Towers leading. DJ Corbett scored a goal early in the second half to level things up but Towers again worked hard and pulled three points clear. Ballinteer then rattled off four points on the bounce to take the lead but a free with the last kick of the game levelled the tie and the points were shared.

Our Junior C team took on Shankill on Sunday afternoon and had a tremendous 2-17 to 1-04 victory to ensure that none of our adult football teams suffered defeat on the opening weekend of the league.
