Ballinteer Under 16 Hurlers, Robert Aherne, Enda Larkin and Iarlaith MacGabhann, took their excellent understanding and teamwork to a new level in DCU on Sunday morning when they started for Dublin against their Fé 16 counterparts from Cork in a curtain raiser to the senior action in Croke Park. Unfortunately, Iarlaith’s match ended prematurely when he took a heavy knock on the knee. Hopefully the break for St Patrick’s Day will allow him time to recover as his services are much needed by Club and County. The Cork lads had the benefit of a strong wind in the first half and built up an unassailable lead however Dublin were more settled in the second half and fought back well with the wind at their backs. Enda, who helps out at the BSJ Nursery on Saturday mornings, learned a few important lessons himself on Sunday, saying afterwards, “never try to hook someone using your arm !”. On the sideline, Robert’s younger brother, Andrew, could be seen taking the opportunity to practice his first touch. Congratulations and well done to all.
